Conversations Platforms

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

Another exhibition opening in June: this Monday at Centre Pompidou in Beaubourg Paris, D.DAY, LE DESIGN AUJOURD’HUI.

Continuing my collaboration with François Jégou & Ezio Manzini on sustainable development, an installation is being shown in the Centre Pompidou exhibition D.DAY, DESIGN AUJOURD’HUI as of June 29th, 2005, and it will run till October 17th, 2005. I have been busy designing the conversations platform: a space where visitors can comment about every day life scenarios for sustainable development. Manzini-Jégou began this project at the Triennale di Milano in 2003, and then we have been collaborating in 2004 in the sciences centre Pass near Mons, in Belgium, and in the 2005 events Doors8 in New Delhi, as well as CCN in Bratislava. These next three months will tell us more about possible conversations in an exhibition set-up … Everyone can participate also on-line at the Sustainable Everyday Project

Environment(s) Design

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

In June 2005 is ending a major R&D project in which I conceived an interactive art installation: a 3D environment running on a game engine (Unreal Tournament) and using software working on qualitative physics and perceptual causality, offering hence pseudo-autonomous behaviour.

In June 2005 is also the opening of the Indian Gardens I conceived/designed for the Royal Saltworks in Arc et Senans. These will run till October 2005.

Enriching process to be active in parallel in the design of virtual and real environments, after being active in mixed realities with Transfiction, from 1999 to 2003.

Allusion to India

Saturday, June 4th, 2005

Designing a garden takes into account the space as place of deambulation and of allusion. I was commissioned to design this “Indian garden” in the annual festival at Saline royale d’Arc et Senans- Royal Saltworks - UNESCO Heritage built by utopist architect Claude-Nicolas-Ledoux.
The opening is on June 16th, 2005.

Allusion

Saturday, June 4th, 2005

This is a key concept I am busy exploring through different interactive installations, and now in the *scenography* of exhibitions.

In rhetoric, an allusion is the implicit referencing of a related object or circumstance, which has occurred or existed in an external context. An allusion is understandable only to those with prior knowledge of the reference in question (as the writer assumes the reader has).

Note: “allusion” should not be confused with an illusion.
